The Daily report brought to you by Harley Davidson
This morning we're here at the Harley Davidson factory in Tomahawk, WI. this is their luggage and painting facility. They also make the windscreens here as well. Sorry...Mr.Happy, but, they don't allow cameras here. This is as close as you get.

The facility was acquired in 1961 from the Tomahawk Boat company. And, yes for a while Harley Davidson made boats. Willie G Davidson started here designing boat dashes.

This afternoon we ate lunch in a very quint town, Ogema, WI.  at very quint cafe the "Rail Trail Cafe" their lunch specials are pretty tasty. While we were there we ran into some writers for "Road Runner" magazine. They were completing the "Shamrock Tour" of Wisconsin. I recommend reading "Road Runner" they have good articles on short trips around the country and maps that fit in your tankbag.
Lake Superior from Deluth, Mn. Mr.Happy's home town.
Until next time.......its live from the road less traveled.

The Pm report brought to you by "Harley-Davidson"

Greetings from Milwaukee, our last day here. Today we are touring the museum. So... lets follow Mr. Happy as we tour the museum.

Harley Davidson Motorcycle #1 1903 a beautiful machine. Who wouldn't want one of these in their barn to ride to bike night?

You can't believe the enormity of the museum's collection. At 192,000 square feet it takes about three hours to tour the museum, and you still would miss something. The collection is arranged in chronographical order in history.
Another beautiful machine from 1930's

Mr. Happy! get ur ass up! your not allowed to nap on the displays. We still have more to look at.

A whole lot more to see.

Well thats the report for today. We are currently at Merrill, WI tomorrow we ride up to Tomahawk to visit the Harley Fiber glass plant where they make all the luggage for Harley's.

Until next time....live on the road lease traveled.

Saturday August 13

The AM report brought to you by Harley Davidson.

We are here live in Milwaukee, WI. reporting from the Harley-Davidson Museum. Yesterday we took the "Steel-Toe" tour of the Power Train plant in Menomonee Falls, WI.  Here is where they build the 6 different enigines for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. All but the V-Rod which is built in Kansas City, Mo.
It takes 2 1/2 hours to build one engine. and they only are built on day shift at the plant. The plant runs three shifts, but, production is only on 1st shift.

After the plant tour we toured the X-collection which is a special exhibit of some of Harley's racing machines and prototypes. Here is a "V-Rod" built for Drag racing.

until next time

Day 4

The PM report brought to you by Harley Davidson

We are here live in Milwaukee, WI. Reporting from Bike Night at "The Harley Davidson Museum", how awesome is that! And what a fitting statue of a "Hill Climber". I think of home and the AMA Hill Climb at Oreagonia, Ohio. By the way this statue was donated by Willie "G" Davidson, the grandson of Arthur Davidson.

Yep...you have to love motorcycles to appreciate the passion that runs deep. Burt Munro once said; "A man lives more in five minutes of ridding a motorcycle than a life time without." I believe Burt was right. (Burt Munro- world speed record holder at Bonneville on a 1921 Indian Scout) By the way his record still stands to this very day.

Tomorrow we tour the Museum and the Harley Factory, it doesn't get any better than this.

Above is a 1903 Harley-Davidson.

Until next time.

Geneva Lake

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Ahaaa...What can I say. Eating at the lake Shore Grill was stupendous! I recommend the 6oz. Filet Mignon . Hey! What can I say I am on Urlaub as the germans say.

Next stop Milwaukee, where we stopped for a while at "Hals" Harley Davidson, the people there are great and friendly. We also stopped at BMW of Milwaukee on 76th street. Kevin and Eric were very gracious and helpful. They also carry the new Schuberth helmets if anyone has interests.

Mr. Happy outside of Starbucks at Lake Geneva.
Until next time.....

Day 2

The  PM report brought to you by BMW, "Unstoppable".

Well...where ever there are motorcyclist there is bound to be a museum. And what a museum! Kestering Harley Davidson in Winamack, Ind has one of thee best museum collections I have seen.
The "Wheels through Time" in Magee Valley is still the cats ass in my book.
Who would have guessed that I get to see a 1948 'Vincent Black Shadow" similar to one that "Rollie Free" rode in 1948 setting a world speed record at the flats at 150.313 mph.
Until next time...still wandering the wilds of Indiana.
 Ciao
